In today’s world, excelling in sports and other high-pressure performance situations involves a lot more than just physical ability. It requires as much (or more) mental training as it does physical or academic practice.
We employ the latest computer techniques and real-time training exercises in our work with athletes, high-profile business executives, students, and many other individuals who find themselves struggling with their ability to perform at their best when it matters most.
Our program involves several stages. First, we put our clients through our personalized “Focusing 101” process. This teaches them the many different aspects of focusing including: what causes performers to lose focus, and how to regain it when they’ve lost it; how to identify when they are losing it and how to keep themselves focused no matter what internal or external pressures are impacting them. This process trains people how to perform calmly in pressure situations and how to overcome a variety of difficult emotional and physical hurdles while still performing at an elite level.
Then, we put our clients through real-time pressure situations that are tailored to meet the specific needs of their sport, business situation, or academic endeavor. This typically involves both computer simulations and one-on-one “interference training” where we coach our clients to perform at their best despite the presence of numerous distractions, psychological hurdles, and external pressures.
In the end, our clients come away with two finely tuned skills. First, they are able to focus more intently and for longer periods of time despite the circumstances. Second, they develop a heightened awareness of what types of mental and/or physical intervention they need to employ in order to perform consistently and at a superior level in order to achieve their goals.
